What I enjoy most about my job is the variety. I have to completely understand our customers as we aim to make their lives easier, whether they are librarians, publishers or end users.
The OpenAthens team is very close and therefore you can always count on someone to be there for you, both professionally and personally.
I enjoy getting to know how customers use OpenAthens and making sure they get maximum benefits from the product. This is possible due to the great team I work with and the support they provide.
I like that within OpenAthens there is always an opportunity to share and gain knowledge. Every day I learn something new and I enjoy being able to use this to better support our customers.
Having been a user of OpenAthens myself as a student, I know first-hand how valuable the service can be. It’s fantastic to be a part of the process today.
The customer service element is what I enjoy most about my job. It’s great to call a new customer and hear that the implementation has gone well and they are already seeing results.
I thrive on the complex conundrum of our work. We give end-users access to content their library is paying for, whilst at the same time, protect that content from unauthorized access.
Working in the OpenAthens team gives me the opportunity to work with some amazing clients / partners and colleagues. I believe our systems help bring a positive impact for all of our end users across the globe.
The best thing about OpenAthens for me is the amazing people that I get to work with, both the team here and our customers. It’s also fantastic to see the impact our actions make so quickly.
It’s an exciting challenge delivering a consistent, first class customer experience for our global user-base. And I love the supportive and collaborative culture that we’ve built in OpenAthens – there’s an inclusiveness that I’ve not experienced anywhere else.
Originating from the OpenAthens service desk, my goals are to ensure customers get the most from our services and that we continue to improve our services.
I want to hear your goals, challenges, and feedback so we can identify solutions!
… I also want to hear about your pets.
I’m based in South Wales, where I live with my wonderful partner and our girls… (two little dachshunds!)…
I join OpenAthens after having worked with 5 different publishers, with over a decade of experience, while having done an undergraduate and Masters degree too…
I have first hand experience of how easy OpenAthens made my life as a student, and a salesperson in publishing knowing authentication was never going to be an issue.
It’s great being part of the OpenAthens team! Our mission—to remove barriers to knowledge—might sound simple, but with such flexible products, no two days are ever the same. I love diving into customer needs and bringing the right people together to deliver solutions so smooth, end users barely notice the OpenAthens magic happening behind the scenes.
I’ve enjoyed building a career in the education sector supporting people to reach their potential. The opportunity to work in OpenAthens is a great extension of that mission as the team are laser focussed on removing barriers to knowledge for learners the world over.
I’m Ruby, the Sales Development Representative for OpenAthens. I love to bake and have a weird obsession with cheese!
I love working with our international library customers and global network of partners to grow OpenAthens’ footprint around the world. Since I joined, my role has taken me to places as far-flung as Japan and Kazakhstan, which has highlighted how much libraries around the world have in common and how OpenAthens’ mission of removing barriers to knowledge is universally recognized.
I work as a product manager at OpenAthens. My role involves working with people from across the business to decide how we are going to develop and improve the OpenAthens product in the future. A large part of that is understanding our customers and users –gathering and analyzing feedback, reviewing requests for new features, and so on. All with the aim to help us prioritize our development work so we continue to provide a product that is useful and valuable to our customers and users.
I am passionate about making complex ideas simple. At OpenAthens, our mission is clear: to remove barriers to knowledge so that information is secure and accessible for everyone, everywhere. My role is to ensure that what we do – and why it matters – is easy to understand for all audiences, whether they have technical expertise or none at all, across borders.
What I love most is being part of a team that truly cares about this mission. Together, we help organizations provide secure remote authentication and seamless access to knowledge worldwide.
I joined the team from EBSCO in 2024 where I was the library trainer for the Nordics. So far I’ve been blown away by how positive and helpful the team are (as well as the amazing OpenAthens Listserv community!).
We’re lucky to have a great team here at OpenAthens, and collaborating and coming up with new ideas is one of my favourite parts of the job. I joined the team in 2022 with a background in marketing and languages following my degree in Spanish and French, and have since enjoyed working to develop my skills and support our work around the world.
I joined OpenAthens in 2023 after over a decade in finance as I was looking for something much more meaningful. My role focuses on understanding customer and user challenges through external research and conversations with our account managers and service desk team. I then work with product managers and technical leads to identify possible solutions to those problems, test them with prototypes, and then work with the development teams to make the changes a reality. A big part of this is understanding the technical complexity and finding a way for users to manage it clearly and easily.
Putting the user at the centre of our mind is how we make decisions as OpenAthens. It’s my job to ensure that your voice is heard when we are making changes to the product. I conduct and help our team run an array of research studies to help use understand the ever changing world of our customers.
