Adeline Sophia Ho

Information resources manager │ Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus, Malaysia

Currently serving as an Information Resources Manager at Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus, I hold a key leadership position responsible for managing and overseeing the full spectrum of library operations as well as consistently driving innovative services to ensure that the library meets the diverse needs of its users.  Driven by a strong commitment to modernizing library practices, I played a pivotal role in introducing user-centered services and digital tools aimed at improving access, engagement and overall satisfaction. By harnessing technology, we have reimagined traditional library services into dynamic, interactive experiences that encourage greater use and foster meaningful connections with library resources. Efforts have contributed significantly to fostering a more agile and technology-driven library environment, one that is responsive to the rapidly changing academic landscape and the evolving expectations of the university community.

Lucy Roper

Head of library services│University of the Built Environment, UK

I am a solo academic librarian at the University of the Built Environment (formerly UCEM – University College of Estate Management).  The University of the Built Environment (UBE) offers supported online education for the built environment, drawing on over 100 years of experience to provide high-quality learning opportunities.

My current role and responsibilities include managing, organising, evaluating, and disseminating information to support members of the UBE academic community, including students, lecturing staff, and researchers.  My tasks have involved creating both an online library and a physical library from scratch.  With advancements in information governance, I assumed additional responsibilities as Head of Library Services and Strategic Intellectual Property Lead, ensuring that the university, library, and information services complied with copyright and data protection legislation.

I have over twenty-five years of experience managing library and information services, with the majority of my library career spent working at UBE as a solo librarian. I recently wrote and had published The Solo Librarian: A Practical Handbook.
