Does OpenAthens supply journals, e-resources or articles?

OpenAthens does not supply any e-resources/articles. We are an identity and access management system providing single sign-on to organisations which already have these in place.

If you are looking for access to a specific journal, you may want to contact a publisher about an organisation subscription or go via a subscription agent such as EBSCO who can procure content from multiple sources for you.

How can I help users manage their OpenAthens accounts and free up some of my time?

Users don’t need to be assigned an OpenAthens account because they can access subscription resources with the same credentials they use to log into their workplace computer. NHS organizations can use local directory connections to improve user experience and free up some of their time. A local directory integration means fewer requests from users to reset their OpenAthens account passwords and it provides single sign-on access to systems and applications across organizational boundaries. 

Not sure where to start? If you are an NHS organization, we have plenty of examples of how local directory integration has been implemented across different trusts.

I'm a librarian, can I use OpenAthens without subscriptions?

You will need to talk to publishers or a subscription agent about subscriptions before implementing OpenAthens.
