Lean Library partners with OpenAthens

We make it easy for people to access the knowledge they want, when they want it. Our products remove the need to remember multiple user names and passwords and supporting off-site access. Our products are standards-based, so they seamlessly slot into existing systems such as Lean Library to provide an optimal user experience.

We’re very pleased to announce a partnership with Lean Library, a SAGE Publishing company, to support libraries accessing content using single sign-on authentication. Lean Library brings library services directly into a patron’s workflow via their web browser using a browser plugin. SAGE acquired the company in 2018.

What is Lean Library?

Lean Library is a powerful browser plug-in that reliably and seamlessly extends the library resources, services and branding directly into the users’ workflow, wherever they are. This brings it in absolute alignment with the library’s mission of delivering digital content to learners and researchers. The tool is fully supported and includes a wide range of services. Their responsive and passionate team can have you set up in less than 2 hours.

Award winning tool

The library tool won 'Most Impact Product' at Charleston 2017 and the '2017 Disruptor Zone' at London Information Online. Impressively, their products already benefit more than 50 universities and organizations across more than 20 countries.

Our collaboration

It’s Lean Library’s mission to support as many users as possible. And with this partnership, we are one step closer,” says founder Johan Tilstra. “We’re thrilled about our collaboration with OpenAthens – they’re a great team with a great product. Combined with Lean Library, it makes for a near perfect end-user experience.”

OpenAthens recognizes a shared purpose and mission.

“The collaboration with Lean Library has been productive and exciting. We both spotted aspects of single sign-on that can improve. And working together, we’ve taken a step forward in creating a superior experience. We've removed the hoops and hurdles users sometimes need to jump through.” says Jon Bentley, commercial director of OpenAthens.
