Access Lab 2022 programme announced

15 February 2022 • Jane Charlton, senior marketing manager - community and content

We're excited to unveil the details of our annual Access Lab event! Our event takes place online on Tuesday 22 March 2022, from 13:00 – 18:00 GMT.

About Access Lab 2022

This year’s event theme is ‘Enabling the future – managing resources post-pandemic'. We're hosting our event virtually for the third year in a row. Plus it's free to attend! We'll bring together experts from sectors including education and research, healthcare, government, charity, publishing and commercial.

Access Lab has gained a reputation for showcasing debate and discussion on key industry issues affecting the global publishing and library communities.

We are expecting attendees from all over the world to join us online, particularly now that the event is free to attend. This removes a barrier to access which is at the core of how we operate as an organization.

Jon Bentley, commercial director, OpenAthens

Our commercial director Jon Bentley will deliver the opening keynote and outline the future of identity with Jisc's Lifelong Learning Identity project.

Commenting on the event programme he said:

“Access Lab has become a permanent fixture in the information industry calendar. We're very much looking forward to the 2022 edition.

“We're expecting attendees from all over the world to join us online. Making the event free to attend removes a barrier to access which is at the core of how we operate as an organization.

“We're honored to provide a platform where people can share their views, gain industry insights and topics affecting our ever-evolving sector.

“The pandemic brought about drastic change over the last few years. Conference speakers will discuss the challenges we now face and how to prepare for a post-pandemic world. We will showcase session formats from previous years which we know our delegates have found useful.”

Our debate-based sessions are always a conference highlight. This year’s panel discussion ‘The impact of cookie privacy changes on identity services’ is no exception.

Other confirmed sessions include several on Open Access - monographs, discovery services and budget pressures. OpenAthens sessions feature product strategy and extending customer support.

Attendees can gain insight through case studies from OpenAthens’ customers and partners. Speakers include representatives from the University of Phoenix, Lean Library and EBSCO sharing their personal experiences.

Best publisher UX awards 2022

A feature of the event is the Best Publisher UX Awards. Now in its third year, Jane Charlton, international marketing manager at OpenAthens will announce the winner of this year’s accolade. nkoda was year’s winner and they beat the competition for their product and user-centric approach and philosophy.
